- For the first time since June 2012, there were more job seekers than job openings during the second quarter.
- Nearly 3 out of 4 employers have no plans to hire for the next quarter.
- More workers were laid off – 9,510 workers were made redundant in the first half of the year, the highest since 2009.
- As the economy continues to restructure, displaced workers are strongly encouraged to pick up new skills in order to stay relevant.
