Are You Stressed Out By Your Current Job?

Are you feeling stressed or even on the verge of experiencing burn-out from your current job?

If you share the above sentiments, you are not alone. In a recent news report (http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/more-young-professionals-suffering-from-burn-out) , it was revealed that a growing number of young professionals are suffering from burn-out. Due to extra-long working hours, more and more young people are also suffering from medical problems such as insomnia, depression and hypertension.

In fact, some of this stress actually comes from the desire of young professionals to want to perform well in their jobs. Chances are, they might be thinking that this is the only way to achieve their personal and financial goals.

However, due to the issue of manpower crunch in various industries, these young professionals have little choice but to take on extra responsibilities, which in turn led to longer working hours.

Trouble is, is this style of working sustainable? Can one’s body withstand working 14 hours a day continuously without breaking down? You know the answer.

Is There A Better Way To Create More Income?

Having said that, we are not suggesting that one should stop setting ambitious financial goals. Rather, there are other more efficient ways to achieve one’s financial goals which are not at the expense of one’s health. And one such way is steadily building streams of passive income. (Passive income is income generated with minimal or no effort after the initial foundation is laid out)

So how should we start laying the foundation of generating recurring streams of passive of income? One such way is to invest in the stock market.

Benefits Of Investing In The Stock Market

Here are a couple of benefits of investing in the stock market. Firstly, if one is able to identify good companies and buy the stock of these companies at a reasonable price, one is able to enjoy passive income in the form of dividends and/or capital appreciation (when the price of the stock increases).

At times, you might be able to spot a good company that would generate a continuous stream of dividends (and hence a recurring stream of passive income) for a long time. Warren Buffett for example, bought Coca Cola stock in 1987 and has held on to it since then. During this time, Coca Cola has been steadily generating dividends for Buffett, in additional to the returns he is getting from the increase of Cola Cola’s stock price.

Secondly, unlike other investment instruments such as investing in property, it doesn’t take a lot of capital to invest in the stock market. In the stocks markets of countries such as Singapore and the United States, it only takes a few hundred dollars to get you started.
